Chivas USA announced on Wednesday that the club will hold ‘Sangre Nueva’ Youth Team tryouts in four Southern California cities this summer. Players born between 1992 and 1997 will have a chance to show their skills in front of Chivas USA’s Youth Team coaches in the cities of Bell Gardens (June 11), Bakersfield (June 25), San Bernardino (July 9) and Simi Valley (July 30). Representatives from both Chivas USA and Chivas de Guadalajara will attend the tryouts to assess talent.

Players will be trying out for the Chivas USA Under-18, Under-16, and Under-14 Teams, which are funded fully by the club and are free of cost to players on the teams. The Chivas USA U-18 and U-16 Teams play in the highly competitive U.S. Soccer Development Academy, a nationwide youth development initiative organized by the U.S. Soccer Federation, featuring 74 of the top youth teams in the country competing in a league system at both the U-18 and U-16 levels. In addition to Youth Team coaches from Chivas USA, representatives from Chivas de Guadalajara of Mexico will also be present at the tryouts.

“Culture of Soccer is a blog about the beautiful game and the people who play it. It looks at the way soccer intersects with economics, politics, religion, history, ethnicity, race, immigration, identity, psychology, sexuality, and other aspects of culture. Culture of Soccer does not cover breaking news. Instead, it looks to place aspects of the sport into broader cultural context. Culture of Soccer differs from many other blogs in that each post is a more in-depth discussion of a topic, rather than a quick snippet of what is happening that day.”
